According to the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Records of the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan, 535 criminal offenses in the economic sphere were registered in January–March 2026. This is 2.4 times more than in the same period of 2025 (220 cases), reports Todayinfo.
The Finprom.kz study notes that this spike breaks a long-term downward trend: from 2020 to 2025, the number of economic crimes nearly halved.
Regionally, Almaty leads with 69 cases (126 in all of last year), followed by Astana (37), North Kazakhstan (35), Karaganda (34), and Akmola (33) regions. The lowest numbers were recorded in Atyrau and Mangystau regions — 10 cases each.
