In Astana, a detailed plan for the development of the Middle Corridor for 2026 was approved. Heads of railway administrations and transport companies of Kazakhstan, China, Turkey and European countries agreed on new working conditions that will make transit through the Caspian fast and transparent, reports inbusiness.kz correspondent citing the press service of KTZ.
The main change is a complete abandonment of paper cargo documentation. Transport participants are switching to electronic document flow using digital signatures. Now customs authorities of all countries along the route will directly exchange data in real time. This solution should drastically reduce container downtime at borders.
According to the approved schedule, only this year it is planned to pass 600 container trains from China through the territory of Kazakhstan. To ensure such a flow, the operation of ports and terminals on the Caspian Sea will be revised – their technological processes will be synchronized to eliminate bottlenecks during cargo loading.
The head of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Talgat Aldybergenov, who chaired the meeting, noted that the measures taken are aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan's position as a key link between Asia and Europe.
