Preparatory work for the construction of a waste processing and electricity generation plant in Almaty has been completed. Construction work will begin soon in the Alatau district, reports Todayinfo portal.
This strategically important project will be implemented with the participation of the Chinese company Junxin Environmental Protection. The investment volume for the plant construction exceeds 280 million US dollars (approximately 130 billion tenge).
The project will be built in the Alatau district and will use modern technologies aimed at improving the city's environmental situation.
According to the akimat, the new enterprise will not only reduce the number of landfills but also provide additional capacity for the city's energy system. The plant will process up to 2,000 tons of waste per day and produce up to 60 MW of energy for the power system.
This plant will be one of the largest facilities in the country that generates electricity by incinerating waste.
