A court in Astana has sentenced a young man who, hired through Instagram for $2,000, attempted to deliberately set fire to a house despite people being inside, reports Todayinfo.
A city resident, while looking for work on social media, agreed to commit a crime. He threw pre-prepared incendiary devices into a residential building, creating a real threat to people's lives. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, the crime was not completed.
The court found him guilty of attempted destruction of someone else's property and, taking into account his previous unexpunged conviction, sentenced him to 3 years and 6 months in prison.
The city prosecutor's office warns that agreeing to dubious 'jobs' offered via social networks leads to criminal liability. Such actions threaten not only the freedom of citizens but also the lives and safety of others.
