A large-scale cleanup event brought together over 700 people in Butakovka Gorge, Almaty. The event was organized by the city Department of Religious Affairs together with the public foundation 'Social Development Center'.
Representatives of various religious denominations, public figures, volunteers and city residents took part in the cleanup. All participants were provided with necessary equipment.
Participants had to clean a popular mountain route, which is visited daily by thousands of nature lovers.
"We are in a beautiful, important place for Almaty. The Medeu district akimat apparatus will monitor cleanliness and maintain order until autumn," noted Medeu district akim Yerkebulan Orazalin.
The choice of Butakovka Gorge for the cleanup was not accidental. Head of the Almaty Department of Religious Affairs Nurlan Kikimov emphasized the symbolic significance of this place.
"Cleanups are regularly held in different parts of the city. Representatives of different religions united for a common cause in one of the most favorite recreation spots of Almaty residents. Almaty is our common home," he noted.
According to the organizers, free transfer to and from the event venue was arranged for participants.
For many participants, the cleanup became not just an environmental action, but a real celebration of unity.
