Regional Environmental Summit is taking place in Astana today

Heads of delegations participating in the summit arrived at the EXPO exhibition center. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the distinguished guests, reports Todayinfo.kz news agency. The goal of the dialogue platform, organized jointly with the UN and other international organizations, is to form a comprehensive policy and mechanisms for the protection, restoration and joint use of ecosystems, water and land resources, and to preserve the biodiversity of the Central Asian region. The plenary session of the summit is expected to feature speeches by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov,  President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme Inger Andersen, as well as Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe Tatiana Molcean.
