The share of the culture and tourism industry in China's economy is significantly increasing, reports Todayinfo.

According to the latest data from China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, during the recently concluded May Day holidays, domestic tourist traffic reached 325 million people. This represents a 3.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Total spending on domestic tourism amounted to 185.492 billion yuan, growing by 2.9 percent.

These indicators reflect the dynamic development of the culture and tourism economy and the high activity of holiday consumption. According to annual data previously published by the State Statistical Bureau, the added value of the culture industry and related sectors in China reached 4.61 percent of GDP. The added value of the tourism industry and related sectors accounted for 4.35 percent of GDP.

Transitioning from a temporary holiday 'flow' to a stable year-round component, the share of the culture and tourism industry in the national economy is subtly increasing, becoming an important factor that cannot be ignored.

This is not merely a shift in industry positions but a reflection of profound changes in the structural driving forces of China's economic growth. Service consumption is increasingly playing the role of an 'accelerator' in the structure of domestic demand and is rapidly becoming one of the key drivers of economic development.

Such changes clearly illustrate the modernization of the country's consumption structure. In the past, when consumption was discussed, people primarily thought about purchasing goods. Today, leisure activities such as spontaneous travel, immersive cultural experiences, and food tasting are gaining increasing popularity.
