Coordinated attacks by armed groups and Tuareg rebels in Mali pose a serious threat to the ruling junta. These attacks have driven Russian mercenaries from key northern areas and resulted in the death of the defence minister.
According to Al Jazeera correspondent Nada Qaddourah, these groups appear to be joining forces and acting in a coordinated manner. Their goal is to weaken the government and expand their control.
“We are seeing an unprecedented level of unification among armed groups in Mali. This situation further exacerbates instability in the region,” says Nada Qaddourah.
The Malian government is currently mobilizing efforts to counter these attacks. The international community is closely monitoring the situation.
