Organizers of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a mission delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, have reported that their vessels are being intercepted by Israeli military speedboats, reports Todayinfo news agency.
The incident occurred in Greek waters west of Crete, more than 1,000 km from the Israeli coast. Crew members reported communication jamming and the issuance of an SOS signal.
“Our vessels have been intercepted by Israeli military forces. Communications are down, and we are requesting international assistance,” said mission representatives.
This is one of several attempts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Israeli authorities have not yet issued an official statement. The international community is closely monitoring the situation.
