Expanded-format talks between Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Israeli President Isaac Herzog took place at the Akorda. The Kazakh President noted that the countries have maintained friendly relations since the early years of independence — Israel was one of the first to recognize the republic's sovereignty.
Tokayev emphasized the importance of the Abraham Accords, which help develop trade and economic ties. "We believe that an official ceremony of joining the Abraham Accords could take place in Astana in the near future," the President stated.
The sides also discussed cooperation in artificial intelligence and digitalization. The launch of direct flights was considered to develop ties and increase trade turnover. Currently, a number of agreements are being prepared, including one on the elimination of double taxation.
The Abraham Accords were initiated in 2020 with the mediation of the Donald Trump administration. Formally, they mean the restoration of diplomatic relations, the launch of economic cooperation, and public recognition of Israel at the level of states where this was previously considered impossible.
