A tragic incident caused by jealousy in Kostanay Region has ended with a court verdict. The Mendykara District Court found citizen I. guilty of causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death through negligence (Part 3 of Article 106 of the Criminal Code).
According to the investigation, on January 3, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m., in the village of Troebratskoye, Uzunkol District, I. was intoxicated. During a quarrel based on jealousy, he repeatedly struck his common-law wife P., hitting vital organs. As a result, the woman sustained a closed head injury and blunt abdominal trauma, and died at the scene.
The prosecutor asked the court to sentence the guilty party to 10 years in prison. However, the court considered a number of circumstances: admission of guilt, remorse, and the presence of minor children — as mitigating factors. Committing the crime while intoxicated was recognized as an aggravating circumstance.
“The sanction provides for imprisonment from 8 to 12 years. The court sentenced I. to 8 years, to be served in a medium-security facility,” the court press service stated.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force; the parties may appeal it. This case once again reminds of the danger of domestic violence and alcohol to society.
