The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has sent an official request to the competent authorities of Germany regarding the detention of a Kazakh citizen on suspicion of espionage, reports Todayinfo news agency.
The ministry stated that a response is currently awaited and the matter is under its control. Earlier, the German Federal Prosecutor's Office informed that on April 28, a Kazakh citizen was detained in Berlin. According to the investigation, he may have acted in the interests of a foreign intelligence service.
It is reported that the suspect allegedly passed information related to the German military industry and support for Ukraine. According to German law enforcement, the man may have been in contact with Russian special services since May 2025. On April 29, he was to be brought before an investigating judge to decide on a preventive measure.
No official details have yet been received from the German side. The case is under special control of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
