Germany's Federal Prosecutor's Office announced the arrest of a Kazakhstan citizen in Berlin on suspicion of spying for Russian intelligence, reports Todayinfo news agency.
According to the prosecutor's office, on April 28, police arrested Sergey K. based on a warrant from the Federal Court and searched his home. According to the investigation, since May 2025, he had been in contact with Russian special services and passed them various information.
“The accused passed to his handler information about Germany's military support for Ukraine and the German defense industry, in particular about companies developing drones and robots. In addition, Sergey K. repeatedly photographed public buildings in Berlin and military convoys on highways, including a convoy of a NATO member state,” the prosecutor's office said.
Furthermore, the detainee provided the Russian side with information about potential targets for sabotage. He also offered to recruit other people to form a spy group.
