A unified limit has been introduced for mobile transfers between individuals in Kazakhstan, reports Todayinfo. This measure aims to combat fraud.
The National Bank is implementing a unified protective barrier for P2P (person-to-person) transactions, according to digitalbusiness.kz.
A strict limit will come into effect on May 17, 2026. If the total amount of transfers from one individual to another exceeds 2,000,000 KZT within a single calendar day, the bank will be obliged to apply enhanced authentication.
Large operations will require the simultaneous use of two factors: dynamic identification (one-time code) and biometric identity verification. This decision is aimed at combating "droppers" and the instant withdrawal of funds from the accounts of fraud victims.
While previously large sums could be transferred in a matter of seconds by entering codes, now the sender will have to confirm their presence in front of a camera. The new rules apply to all banks and organizations performing certain types of banking operations, creating a unified secure perimeter for Kazakhstani users.
