Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its role as a key transit hub in the region. A delegation led by Vice Minister of Transport Zhanibek Taizhanov made a working visit to Orenburg (Russian Federation) to develop bilateral cooperation in transport, logistics, and transit, reports Todayinfo.
During the visit, a meeting was held with Orenburg Region Governor Yevgeny Solntsev. The parties discussed the development of railway infrastructure, increasing the capacity of interstate junction points, and boosting cargo transportation volumes.
Special attention was paid to the operation and modernization of the Iletsk railway checkpoint. The Kazakh delegation familiarized itself with the facility's current operations and discussed with Russian colleagues measures to increase its capacity, including the introduction of parallel inspection procedures and synchronization of infrastructure development.
A meeting was also held with representatives of the Orenburg Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, major industrial exporters, and grain sector companies. The discussions covered expanding trade and economic cooperation, developing the region's export potential, and increasing product transportation volumes through Kazakhstan's territory.
The parties noted a steady positive trend in transportation between Kazakhstan and Orenburg Region, as well as significant growth in transit flows. Following the visit, an agreement was reached to continue joint work on expanding the capacity of border infrastructure and developing international transport corridors.
