The investigation into the sale of personal data of Kazakhstani citizens continues, reports Todayinfo.
This was stated by Vice Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Rostislav Konyashkin. According to him, law enforcement agencies are conducting investigative measures, and information about the case will be disclosed upon their completion.
He did not directly link the leak to employees of government agencies or public service centers. Konyashkin noted that access to state information systems is strictly role-based, and specific users are held accountable for violations.
“If any user violates laws or illegally uses information, appropriate measures are taken. Leaks occur through phishing links, calls, or QR codes leading to illegal websites. Leaks also came from microfinance organizations and private information systems,” Konyashkin said.
The ministry stated that it has already strengthened requirements for personal data protection and increased fines. Further tightening of liability, including criminal liability for measures leading to mass leaks, is currently being considered.
