Mali's military leader made his first public appearance after an alleged coup attempt, stating that the situation in the country is 'under control', reports Todayinfo news agency.
On Saturday, rebels launched coordinated attacks, killing Mali's defence minister. The incident has further exacerbated political instability in the country.
In his address, the military leader called for calm and assured that security forces have full control of the situation. He also warned that those involved in the coup attempt will be held accountable.
