Altynbek Katimov and Rizuan Khaizhanov, sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Yana Legkodimova, have been transferred from the Atyrau pre-trial detention center to a colony for life-sentenced prisoners.
According to a source, the transfer took place on the morning of April 19.
It is reported that, according to established procedure, convicts are notified of the transfer only an hour before departure. They were transported in a special carriage along with other prisoners.
Earlier, the exact date of the transfer was not disclosed. After the verdict, the convicts remained in the pre-trial detention center for several more months. During this period, the victim's mother, Galina Legkodimova, appealed to the Committee of the Penal Enforcement System with a request to clarify the timing of their transfer to the place of serving their sentence.
The Department of the Penal Enforcement System for Atyrau Region previously noted that the transfer would be carried out after the allocation of a special guard from the National Guard and in accordance with the procedure established by law.
Now, according to a source, the convicts have been sent to an institution for those serving life sentences.
