Kazakhstan and OSCE cooperation reaches new level

The Head of State met with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pere Joan Pons, reports the news agency Todayinfo.kz. During the meeting, Kazakhstan expressed interest in strengthening partnership with the OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly.

The Head of State met with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pere Joan Pons, reports the news agency Todayinfo.kz. During the meeting, it was noted that Kazakhstan is interested in strengthening partnership with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, as well as with its Parliamentary Assembly. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly appreciated the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly for its consistent support of Astana's environmental agenda and efforts in sustainable development. In addition, the President emphasized the special importance of parliamentary diplomacy as a tool that helps strengthen dialogue, trust and mutual understanding between states. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev informed Pere Joan Pons about the large-scale political reform being carried out in the country. According to him, the new Constitution is aimed at ensuring the sustainability of state institutions, increasing the efficiency of the governance system and strengthening mechanisms for protecting human rights. Pere Joan Pons noted the relevance of the issues raised at the Regional Environmental Summit. He said he was convinced of the ability of Central Asian countries to act together in promoting the regional agenda and implementing common initiatives. At the end of the meeting, the Head of State confirmed Kazakhstan's readiness to further strengthen cooperation with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and expressed confidence in the continuation of fruitful interaction.
