Lifestyle and customs of two peoples are in tune: Tokayev on Mongolia and Kazakhstan

The Head of State called Mongolia an important partner and good neighbor in the region, emphasizing the special significance of President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh's visit to our country, reports Todayinfo.kz news agency.

– Our history and roots are common. Both countries are heirs to the nomadic civilization and the culture of "felt houses." The being and spiritual world, lifestyle and customs of the two peoples are in tune. Therefore, we always wish each other well and sincerely rejoice in each other's successes. In recent years, relations between Kazakhstan and Mongolia have been developing with renewed vigor. You know that a year and a half ago I paid a state visit to Mongolia. I recall with gratitude the warm welcome of respected President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and the entire Mongolian people. During that visit, we signed the Declaration on Strategic Partnership. This is a historic document that has finally cemented our millennia-old brotherhood. Currently, the parliaments and relevant ministries of the two countries have established close ties. The Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council are working successfully. President Khurelsukh's current visit will undoubtedly strengthen this cooperation, – said the President of Kazakhstan.

The parties held substantive and productive negotiations on all areas of bilateral relations.

– We agreed to further deepen interaction in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres. In particular, we reached a mutual agreement to open a consular office of Kazakhstan in the Mongolian region of Bayan-Ulgii. This is, in fact, an important step fully consistent with the spirit of strategic partnership between our fraternal and historically related countries. Moreover, this is undoubtedly a clear manifestation of the goodwill and sincere friendship of the Mongolian people towards the Kazakh people. We highly appreciate this decision. In this regard, I would like to express my deep gratitude to President Khurelsukh. Overall, a number of important documents were signed during the visit. The agreements concluded today will undoubtedly boost trade turnover between the two countries. The trade volume between Kazakhstan and Mongolia last year amounted to 130 million dollars, an increase of 7.7 percent. Given the economic potential of our countries, we have every opportunity to increase this figure. In this regard, we set a goal to bring trade turnover to 500 million dollars in the next few years. To do this, first of all, we need to expand the range of goods in trade. It is necessary to minimize barriers hindering economic integration. A month ago, a trade mission of Kazakhstan made a special trip to Mongolia. Important proposals were made there to diversify economic ties. Last year, we ratified the Interim Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Mongolia. This document opens many new opportunities for our countries, – said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
