Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow, reports Todayinfo. The heads of state discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the special significance of the content of the upcoming visit of the Russian President to Kazakhstan. He thanked Vladimir Putin for the traditional hospitality and congratulated the people of Russia on the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory.
"I am pleased to meet with you in Moscow on the eve of the Great Victory holiday. This is a holiday that we greet 'with tears in our eyes.' Because we pay tribute to the spirit of our heroes who perished in the bloodiest war in human history. The Soviet government defeated fascism in the Great Patriotic War and emerged from World War II as a mighty power. It became one of the founders of the United Nations. We will never forget this. We cherish our veterans. In Kazakhstan, 57 living front-line soldiers who participated in the war remain," the Head of State said.
The President noted that the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries is growing year by year and dynamically developing in all directions.
"As for cooperation between our countries, we are actively preparing for your state visit, scheduled for the end of May. According to the results of the last five years, Russia is one of the main investors in the Kazakh economy. Trade is also successfully developing. According to preliminary forecasts, this year the trade turnover will exceed the mark of 30 billion dollars. This is a very good indicator," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated.
He also specifically touched upon the humanitarian ties between the two countries in the field of education. He mentioned that "Sirius" schools have begun opening and operating in Astana, Almaty, and other cities. Tourism is also a very important direction, with Russia taking first place last year in terms of the number of tourists visiting Kazakhstan.
The Head of State expressed confidence in the successful holding of the upcoming regular summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. He also drew attention to the fact that the state visit of the Russian President to Kazakhstan will be an important political and historical event.
