President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the RES 2026 summit addressed the issue of the Caspian Sea and called on the international community to act together to preserve it, reports Todayinfo.kz.
The head of state noted that the condition of the Caspian Sea is an important issue for Kazakhstan.
Our country is concerned about the fate of the Caspian Sea. Protecting the sea area is especially important in terms of maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity in the region, ensuring sustainable development, - said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to the President, Kazakhstan has put forward a number of initiatives to prevent the decline in sea level.
We initiated the adoption of an interstate program to prevent the shallowing of the Caspian Sea. We also initiated the creation of the Caspian Sea Research Institute, - he said.
According to him, this institute will contribute to the development of regional scientific cooperation.
The head of state appealed to international partners.
We call on all interested international parties to join efforts to preserve this priceless gift of nature, - said the President.
Tokayev also addressed the issue of security in the Caspian region.
The use of armed forces in the Caspian region must not be allowed. A strict ban should be imposed on this, - he said.
