US President Donald Trump announced a power crisis in Iran and said there is complete uncertainty in the country's leadership, reports Todayinfo.
According to Trump, Iranians themselves do not know whom to obey and are confused.
"Iranians themselves are confused. They don't know who speaks for the country, or even who their leader is," the US president said.
He also hinted that the US has "effectively removed several levels of leadership in Iran" and that the blow has affected the circle around Ali Khamenei.
"Now no one wants to help them. Because Iran no longer inspires the same fear and has ceased to be an 'influential force' in the Middle East," Trump noted.
This statement is indirectly confirmed by information from The New York Times. The publication writes that Mojtaba Khamenei, who is called the new supreme leader of Iran, has undergone several serious operations.
According to sources, he had surgery on one leg three times, and a prosthesis may be needed. He also had surgery on one hand and is now recovering. Due to severe burns on his face and lips, his speech has deteriorated.
As the newspaper reports, due to health problems, Khamenei has "at least for now" delegated important decisions to generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
