US President Donald Trump has announced a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, from May 9 to 11, reports Todayinfo. The head of the White House shared this information on the Truth Social network.
"I am pleased to announce that a three-day ceasefire (May 9, 10, and 11) will be declared in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Russia celebrates Victory Day, but so does Ukraine, as it was also an important part and played a significant role in World War II," the American president wrote.
According to him, the ceasefire will include a halt to all hostilities, as well as a prisoner exchange – 1,000 prisoners from each side.
"This request was made personally by me, and I greatly appreciate the agreement of President Putin and President Zelenskyy," Trump wrote.
The head of the White House expressed hope that the truce would be "the beginning of the end of the conflict."
"I hope this will be the beginning of the end of a very long, deadly, and difficult war. Negotiations to end this major conflict – the largest since World War II – are ongoing, and with each passing day, we are getting closer and closer to the goal," Trump wrote.
