Former US President Donald Trump has arrived on an official visit to China, reports Todayinfo. This marks Trump's first visit to Beijing since 2017, when he previously visited the country after winning the presidential election.
Trump brought with him Elon Musk, Tim Cook, and other heads of technology companies. He is holding two-day talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. This visit was originally scheduled for March but was postponed after the US and Israel began a war against Iran.
The meeting is expected to focus primarily on economic relations between the United States and China. However, experts do not anticipate significant breakthroughs. As economic observer Alexey Kalmykov explains, the main outcome of Trump's visit to Beijing will be the very fact that the two world leaders met and parted amicably.
Upon arriving in central Beijing, Trump and Xi Jinping reviewed a military parade and then entered the Great Hall of the People – the building of the Chinese parliament. There, they made initial comments to journalists and began their negotiations.
"We get along well, we had difficulties, but we overcame them. Some people may not know this, but if we had problems, we solved them very quickly," Trump said. "I called you, and you called me. I tell everyone that you are a great leader."
In turn, Xi Jinping stated: "The whole world is watching our meeting."
