The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has withdrawn from the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) after previously exiting OPEC and OPEC+, reports Todayinfo.
The decision came into effect on May 1, 2026. OAPEC announced that it had received a letter from UAE Minister of Energy, Suhail Al Mazroui, regarding the country's withdrawal from the organization.
"The General Secretariat of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) was informed of a letter from the UAE Minister of Energy, Suhail Al Mazroui, addressed to the Chairman of the current session of the OAPEC Council of Ministers, stating the UAE's decision to withdraw from the organization as of May 1, 2026," the statement noted.
The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries has existed since 1968. Its headquarters are located in Kuwait. The UAE had been a member of the association for 58 years.
Earlier, we reported that after the Emirates' withdrawal from OPEC+, seven alliance member countries, including Kazakhstan, agreed to increase oil production by 188,000 barrels per day in June.
