Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek announced that the LRT system is fully ready for operation and will be launched soon, reports Todayinfo news agency.
„I reviewed the progress of LRT trial operation in Astana, including key system parameters and infrastructure readiness. Test work is almost complete, the system is fully ready for operation. We plan to launch LRT in the near future. Currently, we are actively working on infrastructure and landscaping,“ Kassymbek wrote on Instagram.
According to him, by the time LRT launches, work to ensure barrier-free access to stations will be completed. „The active phase of landscaping will continue throughout the summer. One of the key areas where work is most intensive is the section from Tauelsizdik Avenue to the new Nurly Zhol railway station,“ the mayor noted.
The summer plan includes road construction, landscaping (creating a „green corridor“ along the LRT line), installation of modern lighting systems, and small architectural forms under the overpass. „Functional readiness of stations and approaches will be ensured soon, comprehensive formation of the landscape-architectural appearance along the LRT route will last until the end of the summer season,“ Kassymbek concluded.
