Kazakhstan planned to build four new airports, two runways, and modernize infrastructure in five cities by 2028. The Ministry of Transport, in response to a request from Orda.kz, disclosed project details, reports Todayinfo news agency.

The majority of the new airports were financed by the republican state enterprise 'KazAeronavigation' from its own funds. However, vacationers will likely not be able to visit regional resorts this summer season by flying to the new airports, as work in Katon-Karagai, Zaisan, and Kenderli is planned to be completed by the end of 2026.

'These projects were implemented using the own funds of RSE 'KazAeronavigation'. The construction of the airport in Arkalyk was financed from the republican budget,' the ministry said.

The KazAeronavigation website states that its employees provide safe and high-quality air navigation services in accordance with international standards. Earlier, it was reported that Almaty International Airport continues a large-scale modernization and strengthens its status as the largest aviation hub in the region.
