A Taldykorgan court has sentenced the former director of a dairy limited liability partnership (LLP) to 5.5 years in prison for embezzling 334 million tenge in budget subsidies, reports Todayinfo.
Between 2022 and 2023, the businessman submitted forged documents to the agricultural departments of Almaty and Zhetysu regions. In these documents, he inflated the cost of raw milk, which he allegedly purchased from private entrepreneurs for processing.
Based on these papers, nearly 334 million tenge were transferred to him from the budget. The court established that no milk was processed in the declared volumes, and the money was used for purposes other than intended.
As previously discovered by the Anti-Corruption Agency, the businessman lost 110 million of the embezzled funds in a casino. Additionally, the investigation uncovered forged reports on butter production.
"The reports contained false data on milk purchases from private entrepreneurs and false information about butter production," the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) stated.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court prohibited the convicted individual from holding financially responsible positions for seven years. He was also ordered to repay the entire amount of damage caused.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force. Earlier, we reported that a farmer in Abai region is suspected of embezzling 211 million tenge under the "Agrobusiness" program.
According to the investigation, he obtained two preferential loans totaling 250 million tenge using forged documents, allegedly for the purchase of livestock. However, he neither acquired the animals nor the collateral property, instead spending the money on himself.
