Kazakhstan is taking the next step in digitalizing its energy sector by applying artificial intelligence to manage the Unified Energy System. These technologies can analyze the grid's condition in real time, predict loads, and help dispatchers respond quickly to any deviations, reports Todayinfo news agency.

Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov briefed the government on the project's progress. According to him, the new system focuses on dispatch monitoring, real-time data analysis, and operational decision support.

"The AI model can already predict loads, identify potential violations, and signal risks before they escalate into serious incidents. This fundamentally changes the approach to managing the energy system — from reactive to proactive," the minister noted.

The pilot implementation is based at KEGOC. The project is a Kazakhstani development and has already won a specialized competition. The expected effect is a reduction in incident response time by up to 30%. Even with a conservative estimate, the economic result could reach 200 million tenge per year.

Another important area is the use of AI to forecast generation from renewable energy sources. The new system predicts electricity output for the next day, considering weather data and historical indicators. The pilot is being implemented at KEGOC and Samruk-Energy facilities. The expected economic effect could reach 1.2 billion tenge per year.
