Today, coordinated by the General Prosecutor's Office and Interpol, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Greece, extradited a citizen of Kazakhstan suspected of large-scale fraud from Greece, the supervisory authority reported.

According to the investigation, in 2021, while working as an accountant for a transport company in Almaty, she received $230,000 from the manager under the pretext of storing funds in a bank safe deposit box, but allegedly embezzled the money.

After committing the crime, the suspect fled the country and was placed on the international wanted list.

In June 2024, she was detained in Greece. Upon request of the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan, a decision was made to extradite her to Kazakhstan.

It is noted that due to the lack of direct air service between Kazakhstan and Greece, transit transportation was organized with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Serbia.

Currently, the suspect has been placed in a pre-trial detention facility in Astana.

The incriminated act carries a penalty of up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property, as well as deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 10 years.
