Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek commented on the leak of personal and medical data at KazNU, reports Todayinfo.
According to him, the incident was caused by human error. 'In the case of KazNU, it was, so to speak, a human factor, and the dean and several other employees have been dismissed. We are tightening requirements. We are constantly changing and tightening protocols,' he said.
Furthermore, the minister stated that after these incidents, special seminars were held and specialized services were involved. 'We have even involved employees of the State Security Service now, we have already held several seminars, training all employees responsible for information security, cybersecurity, and data protection,' added Sayasat Nurbek.
The minister promised to anonymize all data on the higher education platform. Recall that the first data leak at KazNU occurred in 2024, when a 'list of virgin female students' was leaked online. Earlier, the Almaty prosecutor's office announced an investigation into the dissemination of personal and medical data of students at Al-Farabi KazNU.
