Responsibility for medical decisions made with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) remains with the doctor, reports Todayinfo news agency.
This was stated by the First Vice Minister of Digital Development and Innovations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rostislav Konyashkin. According to him, AI does not have legal personality, so it cannot bear responsibility. It acts only as a tool that helps the specialist.
“This is not a state system that we force everyone to implement. It is a tool. Each clinic now has the opportunity to purchase equipment. Each clinic can purchase certain tools, not related to artificial intelligence, that doctors use in their work,” Konyashkin said.
Kazakhstan has launched an AI assistant for doctors that documents conversations with patients, analyzes test results, and helps make diagnoses. The vice minister noted that AI can quickly analyze CT scans and indicate potential risks, but the final diagnosis is still made by the doctor.
