Mazhilis deputy Islam Sunkar proposed introducing artificial intelligence (AI) as a basic subject for all specialties. According to him, despite the adoption of the digitalization and AI concept, the personnel training system lags behind the needs of the economy, reports Todayinfo news agency.

"The Ministry of Science and Higher Education should revise the state compulsory education standards and introduce a module on artificial intelligence and data analysis not only for IT fields but as a basic subject for 100% of specialties. A doctor, lawyer, or agronomist without data skills will become uncompetitive in the future," the deputy said.

He also proposed abandoning manual distribution of educational grants and switching to automated data analysis for more accurate planning of personnel training. "We spend billions of budget funds on grants for specialties that may disappear in five years because we have no working forecast. Educational programs often fail to keep up with the rapid development of technologies, leading to insufficient training of graduates," Sunkar noted.

He recalled that according to the target indicator of the AI development concept, by 2029 the share of universities and colleges that have implemented AI programs should reach 60%. "In the new reality, these are functionally illiterate specialists," the deputy concluded.
