Kazakhstan has proposed changing the system of training doctors. Deputies believe the current model does not provide students with proper practice and does not allow them to start working immediately, reports Todayinfo.
According to deputy Askhat Aimagambetov, after six years of study, students are left without full-fledged practice. “The duration of study is six years. Then, during a six-month internship, the student works in a hospital without a specific legal status, without access to medical systems and without the right to participate in medical procedures. After six years of study, graduates cannot find employment because residency is mandatory for everyone. Residency training lasts from two to four years. At the same time, the number of state grants is extremely limited, so training is often paid for,” he said.
In this regard, the deputy proposed changing the approach to training and switching to a seven-year system: six years of theory and one year of full practical internship in medical organizations.
