Beef prices in Kazakhstan have been compared with global figures, and the country's position in the international Numbeo ranking has been determined, reports Todayinfo.
The ranking, updated on May 5, included 101 countries. Kazakhstan was placed 82nd with an indicator of $8.72 (4,050 tenge) per kilogram of beef.
Notably, meat in Kazakhstan turned out to be cheaper than in most other post-Soviet countries. For instance, in Russia, a kilogram of beef costs $10.93, in Uzbekistan $10.86, and in Belarus $9.25.
According to Numbeo, the most expensive beef is sold in Switzerland ($45.58), Norway ($32.89), and Luxembourg ($27.65). Generally, in most developed countries, meat is 3-4 times more expensive than in Kazakhstan.
The top 15 positions in the ranking are occupied by countries where beef costs more than $20. These include several European nations (Germany, Sweden, France, Finland, Austria, Italy, Belgium, and others), as well as Israel, South Korea, and Singapore.
The most affordable beef, according to the ranking, is found in Pakistan ($4.68), Nigeria ($4.73), and Kenya ($5.23).
