KazMunayGas plans to increase production at the Kashagan oil and gas field to 500,000 barrels per day next year. The current figure is 400,000 barrels.
Total investment in the project is $6 billion. Kashagan is one of the largest oil fields in the Caspian Sea.
The government expects this measure to bring an additional 2 trillion tenge in revenue to the state budget.
