At a briefing in the government of Kazakhstan, Vice Minister of Digital Development Rostislav Konyashkin answered journalists' questions about why the system at public service centers (CSCs) does not accept photos for online ID card issuance, reports Todayinfo.
According to him, the reissuance of ID cards was launched in a pilot format. "Yes, we admit that when launching any new product, there is a trial period. This one is no exception. We are still testing and training the model that analyzes photo quality. This is the only bottleneck we currently have. Because of this, the share of online reissuance is less than 50%, as we are refining the technology on the data set. There are successful cases and unsuccessful ones. When we are absolutely sure that it will work flawlessly, only then will we announce that the pilot project is complete and we fully switch to the online format," said the vice minister.
"This is not a task of days or weeks, but several months. Some CSCs already have self-service terminals specifically for reissuing identity documents, where the service can be obtained in a very convenient and simple format. We plan to scale this experience this year, including as part of the new format of public service centers. We consider it very positive," Konyashkin added.
He noted that this significantly reduces service time and queues.
