Kazakhstan has launched a pilot service for online ID reissuance, but it is not yet a full-fledged alternative to visiting a Public Service Center, reports Todayinfo.
Vice Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Rostislav Konyashkin said the main issue is the photo verification system. The algorithm that evaluates photos taken at home is still 'learning,' so some applications are rejected. Currently, the success rate of online applications is below 50%.
'Now this is being tested. I admit there are cases where the model works incorrectly, and we are fixing it. This is not a task of days or weeks, but of several months. We will continue to improve the service in this format throughout the year,' Konyashkin said at a government briefing.
At the same time, self-service terminals for document processing are being introduced in Public Service Centers. Authorities expect this to speed up service delivery and reduce queues.
