Kazakhstan's applicants are increasingly choosing professions that may disappear in the coming years. This was stated by Mazhilis deputy Askhat Aimagambetov during a government hour.

According to him, the model for distributing state grants is outdated. 'It was created before ChatGPT. It does not account for which professions will be at risk of automation in three years. In 2025, the highest competition is for 'Translation' – 16 people per spot, 'International Relations' – 13, and 'Law' – 8. These are exactly the fields AI will automate first,' the deputy said.

Aimagambetov noted that critical sectors for the economy remain empty. 'Livestock farming – 0.15 people per spot, metallurgy – 0.07. We allocated tens of thousands of grants to IT as a 'profession of the future,' but employment among young developers aged 22–25 dropped by 20%. We are training 'yesterday's coders' when AI already writes code itself,' he explained.

The deputy also criticized weak regulation of paid admissions to universities. 'Universities continue to enroll thousands of fee-paying students in outdated specialties. Citizens pay millions for diplomas in professions that will not be in demand. According to the Ministry of Labor, 56% of new jobs by 2030 will be for mid- and low-skill professions. Yet we produce graduates with higher education at 5–6 times the demand,' he concluded.
