In Kazakhstan, April 23 has been established as National Book Day. This holiday has been celebrated since 2025 on the initiative of the President to foster a reading culture, increase intellectual potential, and encourage young people to read.
"Love for books is a good quality. Many states celebrate National Book Day. We, first of all, must encourage young people to read. Then we will become a nation that reads en masse," said the President in his speech at the third meeting of the National Kurultai.

In the Armed Forces, soldiers participating in the challenge recited lines from famous poets and quoted excerpts from prose works of writers.
For example, in military unit 06708 of the Priozersk garrison, soldier Kamza Yerbatyr read a poem by Arai Alimzhanova "While There Is a Brother," and a soldier of the Atyrau garrison, military unit 41433, read Mukagali Makataev's poem "Motherland."

For military personnel serving in the defense sector, a book is not only a source of knowledge but also an important tool for personal development. During the event, special exhibitions were organized in military libraries, and historical and military literature was widely presented. Meetings and challenges aimed at promoting a reading culture among military personnel are held annually.
As part of National Book Day, participants of the challenge were offered selected works of Kazakh and world literature, with special attention paid to books on military topics. This initiative contributes to improving the professional knowledge of military personnel and broadening their horizons.
These initiatives not only increase the importance of books in society but also allow the younger generation to be introduced to knowledge and spiritual values.
National Book Day, held at the Ministry of Defense, is an important cultural event that gives impetus to the spiritual development of military personnel. This event strengthens the role of books in society and contributes to the promotion of the values of education and upbringing.
