Russia Announces May 9 Ceasefire: Kyiv Under Threat of Strike

Russia has announced a temporary ceasefire on the front lines from May 8 to 10 but warned of a possible massive strike on Kyiv if the truce is violated, reports Todayinfo.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that from 00:00 on May 8 until 00:00 on May 10, Russian troops would completely cease hostilities and refrain from striking targets on Ukrainian territory. This decision was made in connection with the celebration of Victory Day.

Simultaneously, strikes by missile forces and artillery, long-range high-precision sea and air-based weapons, and attack unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukrainian Armed Forces deployment sites and infrastructure facilities related to the military-industrial complex and armed forces deep within Ukrainian territory will cease.

The Russian military department urged the Ukrainian side to follow this example. However, it was emphasized that in the event of a ceasefire violation, the Russian army would deliver an "adequate response."

"A massive missile strike on the center of Kyiv" will be carried out if Ukraine attempts "to disrupt the celebration of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated earlier.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the situation, promised to respond to Russia's actions "mirror-like." He also warned foreign leaders that they should not attend the parade in Moscow.
