Former Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu could pose a threat to President Vladimir Putin's power, as he remains an influential politician and does not want to repeat the fate of his former deputies who received prison sentences, reports Todayinfo.

This assessment was made by Roman Anin, founder of "Vazhnye Istorii," in a comment to DW. According to him, Sergey Shoigu was "the leader of an extremely influential clan" and united many important people in Russia.

Anin predicts a "war of clans" for the throne of a "weakening dictator" in Russia. He views Shoigu as a "potential factor of destabilization" for Putin's power.

Earlier, his publication, along with CNN and the Financial Times newspaper, published an investigation based on an intelligence report from one of the EU countries. According to these data, anxiety is growing in the Kremlin due to a possible conspiracy and assassination attempt on Putin by representatives of the political elite, including through the use of UAVs.

Shoigu, who has held the post of Secretary of the Security Council since May 2024, is considered a "potential destabilizing factor" in the material. Furthermore, the report notes growing tension between security agencies: they blame each other for failures in defending against attacks by Ukrainian special services.
