A 10th-grade student sustained severe injuries after falling from the fire escape railing on the exterior wall of Gymnasium No. 40 in Taraz on the morning of May 2, reports Todayinfo.
The injured student was urgently transported to the regional children's hospital in Taraz. Doctors diagnosed him with a focal brain injury, a fractured right femur, a fractured clavicle, and ruptured internal organs. The teenager is currently in intensive care, and doctors describe his condition as extremely critical.
The Taraz Police Department reported that a criminal case has been initiated under the article concerning the negligent infliction of grievous bodily harm.
Police officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident. Based on the results of the investigation, a procedural decision will be made in accordance with current legislation. In accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other information in the interests of the investigation is not subject to disclosure, the police stated.
However, media outlets have reported a version suggesting that the teenager did not simply fall from the ladder but attempted suicide.
