Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has announced stricter action against viewbotting, reports Todayinfo.
Dan Clancy revealed a new system designed to penalize streamers who employ viewbots to falsify their viewer counts. The platform stated it has been addressing this issue for an extended period.
Many creators resort to external services to make their streams appear more popular than they actually are. Twitch emphasizes that this practice harms both the company and honest streamers who naturally grow their channels without resorting to fake viewers to boost their metrics.
The new punishment system is scheduled to roll out in May. According to Dan Clancy, streamers repeatedly caught using viewbots will face limitations on their concurrent viewership numbers (CCV).
This measure means Twitch will prevent inflated fake numbers from appearing across the platform. The company clarified that the cap will be based on the streamer’s normal real traffic and will impact all Twitch surfaces where viewer counts are displayed to users.
