In Almaty's Bostandyk district, a man attacked a 66-year-old woman at a bus stop. The incident video spread on social media, published by the victim's daughter. According to her, the attacker waited until almost no one was around and assaulted the pensioner without apparent reason.
Police promptly identified the suspect. He turned out to be 25-year-old Ilya Teryonov, who had previously been criminally charged.
As it turned out, in 2020 he was involved in a case related to a death and grievous bodily harm. Then two men broke into his home demanding money back. During the conflict, he stabbed them. One of the attackers died, the other sustained serious injuries. The court ruled that the limits of necessary self-defense were exceeded and sentenced him to two years in prison.
A criminal case has been opened on the assault on the pensioner under the article 'Hooliganism'. The maximum penalty under this article is up to two years in prison. The investigation continues.
