Today in Taraz, the IV International Festival 'Taraz – City of Craftsmen' kicked off. The two-day festival features an exhibition of handicrafts, master classes, a scientific-practical conference, a fashion show, a fair, and a gala concert, reports Todayinfo.kz.
The cultural event, held at the historical and ethno-cultural complex 'Kone Taraz', brings together 33 craftsmen from near and far abroad, including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.

The large-scale festival began with a press conference attended by the World Crafts Council and foreign craftsmen. The official opening ceremony was attended by Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan Malik Otarbayev, Akim of Zhambyl Region Yerbol Karashokeyev, several Mazhilis deputies, and representatives of the regional intelligentsia. The honored guests visited the yurts set up in the ethno-cultural complex and admired valuable handicrafts.
It is worth noting that each six-winged white yurt in the complex is decorated based on storylines reflecting Kazakh national traditions and customs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the head of the region Yerbol Shyrakpayuly noted that such a spiritual platform not only opens the way for exchange of experience but also gives impetus to the emergence of new ideas and strengthening of creative ties between fraternal countries.
– Taraz is not just an ancient city. Taraz is a sacred place that has preserved the imprint of time, conveyed the voice of civilizations, and become the golden thread of human culture on the Great Silk Road. A city with a history of more than two thousand years, it has united different peoples for centuries, forming an unbroken line of art and tradition. Therefore, Taraz is a chronicle, Taraz is a lesson, Taraz is a spirit. The inclusion of our city in 2022 in the list of world craft cities is a significant achievement that raises the country's prestige. This status is clear evidence of the recognition of our national craft, inherited from our ancestors, at the global level. Today's gathering is a cultural space with deep content and special meaning, – said the head of the region in his speech.
And right now, the International Scientific and Practical Conference 'Tradition and Modernity' is taking place at the Center for Spirituality and Historiography named after Sherkhan Murtaza, located on the territory of the complex, with the participation of renowned scientists.

At 19:00, a gala concert featuring the group 'Konir', the Kazakh ethno-folklore ensemble 'HasSak', Narkenze Serikbayeva, and local artists, as well as a fashion show by craftsmen, are planned.
Interestingly, the incessant downpour did not prevent the event from being held at a high level. Guests from abroad and local residents note that it felt as if the ten-day 'Nauryznama' continued in April.
